I love to camp. I guess that’s rather obvious given the nature of my website, but it still bears stating. I grew up camping with family and friends in all sorts of places and in all sorts of conditions. Now that I am older and have children of my own I have wanted to share the same love of camping with them. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to do that as much as I would have liked, due to life taking its unexpected twists and turns. However, that appears to be changing, and hopefully I will be able to rectify that.
My knowledge of camplore has been garnered through direct experience, as noted above, and also through learning from others. My general opinion is that no matter how old/young or how experienced/inexperienced we are, each of us has something to teach and many things to learn. As much as I have participated in camping, I still consider myself a “Beginner” because each trip is its own unique experience, with its own set of challenges and rewards. I feel it helps me keep my edge. If I maintain that focus, I am less likely to make harmful, potentially fatal mistakes, especially when wilderness camping.
Well, enough about me for now. I’m sure that as I blog, other details about me will surface, just as part of the writing process. The purpose of this site, however, is to write about myself, but rather about an activity that I thoroughly love. So, come on in, look around, and feel free to leave a comment or two. I much prefer dialogue to monologue! However, there are a few site rules you should be aware of before posting. Nothing burdensome. Just a few things to make the conversation enjoyable for everyone.
Thank you for joining in!
